the city_ LINCOLN



Uphill District _ of the city. The image below illustrates some key landmarks of the area such as the cities cathedral and the 2006 Collection Museum by Panter Hudspith Architects. The panoramic image at the bottom is taken from the cities castle and highlights the cathedral located in the Uphill District in contrast to the train station in the Downhill District.

Downhill District _ of the city. The image illustrates key areas within the district such as the Brayford Pool, University buildings and the commercial high street. 
The quarters of the city _ the city is made up from a series of quarters that are highlighted in the image below. The Cultural and Historical quarter (RED) is located at the highest point of the city in the Uphill district. It consists of the oldest part of the city with landmarks such as Lincoln castle and Cathedral, which is a dominant focal point above the city. The High Street quarter (YELLOW) is the commercial and modern retail area of the city in the Downhill district and is linked to the Uphill district via Steep Hill. The Brayford Water Front quarter (BLUE) is a contemporary area of the city built up of bars and restaurants that over looks a natural lake formed on the River Witham. The final section is the University quarter (PURPLE) that occupies the cities university district that also over look the Brayford Lake and continue along the River Witham to the West of the city. It is a growing section of the city that has been builds from scratch as well as converting disused railway buildings to form the university campus.
